Join Us for the Dragon Festival!

Put on your best imperial finery and journey to Shing Jea Monastery for the annual Dragon Festival! This seasonal event kicks off with the reopening of the Shing Jea Boardwalk and some of our most popular mini-games, including the Dragon Arena and Rollerbeetle Races. Adventure-seekers can test their mettle all weekend long by reenacting battles from Cantha's past and participating in special festival quests and missions. On the last day of the festival, Emperor Kisu will make appearances in Shing Jea Monastery to kick off the final reenactment.

Participate in the festivities to earn Victory Tokens, which can be redeemed for a variety of fun and tasty festival treats. Participants who demonstrate their supreme festival spirit by collecting 250 Victory Tokens can receive a commemorative Imperial Dragon Mask directly from the Emperor himself!

The 2009 Dragon Festival begins after the live build on Thursday, July 2, 2009. Games and quest reenactments are available all weekend long, but missions and the finale occur on a set schedule. Missions are active for 30 minutes after the call to arms goes out, and Emperor Kisu has scheduled personal appearances every two hours from 2:00 AM until 11:59 PM on Sunday, July 5.

Special Festival Rewards

Here are some of the special items you might come across during the Dragon Festival:

	Sugary Blue Drink It's sweet and oh-so-handy when you need a quick boost of speed.
	Champagne Popper A brief but spectacular treat for the eyes and ears.
	Bottle Rocket Set off a single-shot firework high overhead—please aim away from any and all faces.
	Sparkler Light this up to create a cloud of sparks over your head—please stand clear of any and all flammable objects.
	Red Bean Cake These sweet treats put some pep in your step.
	Bottle of Rice Wine The traditional festival beverage, but make sure you never drink and quest.
	Flask of Firewater A bit of the hard stuff for when you’re feeling extra-bold—just don’t make any complicated plans for afterward.
	Crème Brûlée How do they make this divine confection so sweet, creamy, and crunchy? Who cares? Just get ‘em while they last.
	Victory Token Earn these special tokens by participating in festivities, and exchange them for a variety of rewards.

Imperial Dragon Mask

In addition to the festival rewards above, Emperor Kisu will present participants with a brand new mask! Simply collect 250 Victory Tokens and participate in one of his finale events. If you miss the finale, speak with Imperial Supply Master Kagno after the festival. He’ll be available for a week after the event ends to exchange your tokens for the mask.

Festival Events

Here's what you can expect at the Dragon Festival:

• The Shing Jea Boardwalk reappears. Play games to earn tickets and boost your luck, or play to lose and work your way down a different life track.


• Rollerbeetle Racing returns. Visit the Rollerbeetle Racing Arena to be outfitted with your very own rollerbeetle racer, complete with a special set of racing skills.


• The Dragon Arena reopens. Head over to the arena grounds for a brawling good time.


• Explore special festival quests & events. Visit Imperial Guard Hanso in the Shing Jea Monastery for a series of festival-themed event quests.


• Relive Cantha’s glorious history. Participate in special festival quests and missions that recreate important battles from Cantha's past, featuring the Empire’s finest actors in traditional Canthan theater masks!


• Visit with the Emperor. On the last day of the festival, Emperor Kisu will make appearances every two hours within Shing Jea Monastery to kick off the final reenactment, which features the Empire’s finest actors in traditional Canthan theater masks. If completed successfully, participants will be richly rewarded. If not, well...


• Commemorative festival masks. Imperial Supply Master Kagno will remain in Shing Jea Monastery for one week following the festival, giving attendees who miss all of Emperor Kisu’s final events a chance to redeem their 250 Victory Tokens for the new Imperial Dragon Mask.
