Welcome to Halloween 2009!

Halloween has come to Tyria, and that means the return of Mad King Thorn, new holiday quests, loads of creepy items, the Costume Brawl PvP event, and more!

The ghoul-apalooza begins on October 23rd and runs until 12:01 AM Pacific time on November 2nd. The main festivities take place in Lion's Arch and Kamadan, but the Halloween spirit can be found in other places around Tyria.

The Mad King's Revelry

Mad King Thorn is back! The maniacal monarch returns to Lion's Arch and Kamadan, and he's brought a cornucopia of mini-games, jokes, and riddles to delight and dismay his fellow revelers.

You can play the Mad King's malevolent games if you dare, but be warned! If you win, you'll earn special holiday prizes; if you lose, you die. Fortunately, Mad King Thorn's idea of fun includes letting the vanquished come back for more, so you're always welcome to return from the grave and give it another try.

Mad King Thorn will appear in both Lion's Arch and Kamadan on October 31st multiple times, always preceded by his undead horsemen and accompanied by his entourage of nightmarish cohorts. Participate in any of his appearances and you'll earn a special piece of Halloween headgear. Remember—the Mad King rewards participants in each city with a different mask, so be sure to attend at least one of his events in both Lion's Arch and Kamadan to get both!

You don't even have to contend with the Mad King's tricks to get a treat—there are plenty of other ways to earn prizes, like participating in special events throughout the weekend, or simply exploring in the eerie glow of the Mad King's flickering firelight smile.

As much as he likes to be the center of attention, the Mad King isn't the only exciting part of the festivities.

New Halloween Quests

Brave the dangers of the Underworld on a series of spine-tingling quests for Mad King Thorn, available this Halloween season only. An ancient evil stirs deep in the Underworld—can you hold back the rising tide of darkness?

Beginning October 26th, talk to the candy-coated Mad King's Steward in Lion's Arch or Kamadan to begin—if you dare!

Halloween Treats

Visit the collectors in Kamadan, Lion's Arch, Henge of Denravi, Ascalon City, Champion's Dawn, Kodlonu Hamlet, and the Sunspear Great Hall—these dreadful peddlers of all things spooky are always willing to barter for their creepy curios!
