Q: What are Mercenary Heroes?
A: The Mercenary Heroes feature allows you to use any level 20 character on your account as a Hero. You can purchase single Mercenary Hero Slots for any character on your account, buy the Mercenary Hero Three Pack, or buy the Mercenary Hero Complete Pack, which offers eight slots.
Q: How much do they cost?
A: A single Mercenary Hero slot costs $9.99. The Mercenary Hero Three Pack costs $19.99 for three slots. The Mercenary Hero Complete Pack costs $44.99 for eight slots. This is a one-time purchase: once owned, Mercenary Hero Slots can be applied to any character on your account.
Q: How do I buy one?
A: You can purchase Mercenary Hero Slots at the In-Game Store or the NCsoft Store. Once purchased, your item key(s) will automatically be applied to your account.
Once you have made your purchase, speak to the [Mercenary Registrar] NPC to add your eligible character as a Hero. Registrars can be found in the Great Temple of Balthazar, Lion's Arch, Kamadan, Eye of the North, and Kaineng Center.
Please note: If you make a purchase at NCsoft.com while Guild Wars is running, you must close the game and relaunch in order to activate your purchase. If you purchase from the In-Game Store, you do not have to relaunch the game.
Q: What pay methods are available?
You may use a credit card (we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and JCB) or PayPal.
Q: When will I be charged for this?
A: You will be charged when you successfully confirm your purchase. You will receive an e-mail confirmation that the transaction has gone through, as well as the item serial key itself for your records.
Q: Are they only available as a download?
A: Yes, Mercenary Hero Slots are a digital purchase and are not available as a physical item.
Q: Once I’ve purchased a Mercenary Hero Slot for my account, how do I receive it?
A: To create a Mercenary Hero from one of your existing characters, follow these steps:
- Talk to any [Mercenary Registrar] with the level 20 character you wish to become a Mercenary Hero. These NPCs can be found in the Great Temple of Balthazar, Lion's Arch, Kamadan, Eye of the North, and Kaineng Center.
- Register your current character with the Mercenary Registrar.
- The character you registered will now be available to you as a Hero. If you have purchased multiple Mercenary Hero Slots, you can create a Hero from another character on your account by switching to the character you wish to register and talking to the [Mercenary Registrar] again.
- After registering your character as a Mercenary Hero, other characters on your account must talk to the [Mercenary Registrar] in order to unlock that character as a Hero.
Q: Can I play with a Mercenary Hero version of my current character?
A: Characters will not be able to use the Mercenary Hero version of themselves. You can only adventure with Mercenary Hero versions of different characters on your account.
Q: What are Mercenary Registrars?
A: [Mercenary Registrars] are special NPCs that allow you to create a Hero from eligible characters on your account. Once you have purchased Mercenary Hero slot(s) from the In-Game Store or the NCsoft Store, speak to a [Mercenary Registrar] to register your new Hero.
Q: Can I use any character on my account as a Mercenary Hero?
A: A character must be level 20 in order to be registered as a Mercenary Hero.
Q: How many Mercenary Heroes can I have on my account?
A: You can have a maximum of eight (8) Mercenary Hero Slots on an account.
Q: Can I replace the current Mercenary Hero in my slot with another character?
A: Yes, but in order to replace the current character in the Mercenary Hero slot or to free up the slot, you will have to delete the currently existing Mercenary Hero.
Q: Are Mercenary Hero Slots tradable?
A: No, you cannot trade Mercenary Hero Slots.
